The airport authority broke ground in January 2026 on an 80,000-square-foot terminal addition, three new gates, and four additional baggage claim carousels. The numbers add up to a 64-percent footprint increase on a building that was already at capacity. What it means for you on a pickup trip is straightforward. Expect lane changes at the front of the terminal, follow the posted red-line markers where rental car returns use the left lane, and build in five extra minutes compared to what you're used to.

SR-388 and the Approach: Two-Lane, Rural, Worth Knowing
State Highway 388 is the main artery connecting ECP to both SR-77 from Panama City and SR-79 from Panama City Beach, and for most of its length it stays a rural two-lane road, which keeps you out of a traffic grid but does mean you're reading the road ahead and matching your speed to whatever's in front of you.
Coil-spring rear suspension is where the current Tacoma pays off in a way older owners notice right away. (Toyota redesigned the truck on the TNGA-F platform starting with the 2024 model year, and that coil-spring setup is standard on most trims of the current-generation truck.) If you're running four adults plus luggage from ECP every week, a full-size might serve you better. The rear seat is cramped, full stop. For one or two people with a loaded bed (beach gear, a surfboard, contractor tools headed home from an out-of-town job), the Tacoma is the practical call.
The composite bed is the part that earns its keep in Florida specifically.
